Interview number three
Mark from Liverpool purchased the seventy-minute DVD in January 2009. We have spoken numerous times on the telephone since then (on average twice a week) and he has worked extremely hard in an attempt at killing his "stuttering demons".
Hi Mark, to start with I would like to thank you for taking part in this interview which will appear on the stuttering blog.
No problem Steve. There is quite a lot of doom and gloom on the internet with regards to stuttering and its associated therapies and I am more than happy to "big up" your techniques.
Q. What do you mean when you say doom and gloom?
A. Well as we both know stuttering can make one become quite a negative person however I eventually realised, with your guidance, that the only way to go was to start thinking positively.
Q. So how did you find the DVD?
A. I watched it a few times and I wrote down some questions and then I phoned you, I am not sure if you remember.
Me - Yes I do.
Mark - I have to say that it all very quickly made a lot of sense and the majority of what you said certainly struck a chord with me. I was able to implement a number of the stuttering therapy techniques straight away and this in turn immediately helped my fluency to improve. As you quite rightly state practice is the key and as you know I have worked very hard to overcome my speech impediment.
Me - I have been very impressed with you attitude and overall dedication, the difference in your speech today compared to when I first spoke to you in January is quite amazing, you should be very proud of yourself.
Mark - Thanks Steve, I am!
Q. For the benefit of the people reading this blog, how many hours per day have you spent practicing the techniques?
A. On average about three, in truth I wanted to do a lot more but I have quite a busy schedule Steve what with my kids and work.
Q. What are your feelings for the future, are you confident that you can mantain your fluency?
A. Without a doubt, I am one hundred percent confident that my stuttering days are behind me.
Me - impressive Mark, nice chatting to you again, will speak again soon.
Mark - Cheers Steve.
