Speech and language therapy for stuttering

Now I am not sure about you however I was less than impressed with the advice that I received at the hands of my local speech and language therapists. I gave the therapy my best shot but it was as if the therapists themselves had absolutely no comprehension of what life was like for people like myself, people who have a stutter.

I have been thinking of a possible solution to this situation during the last couple of weeks. The main problem is likely to be in the training that the therapists receive when they are at college. Due to the fact that they have not had a stutter they will not have any first hand knowledge of the subject therefore this training is of utmost importance.

My idea would be that I could help to train them! Why not? I could go the colleges for a few days and talk to the trainee speech and language therapists about the subject of stammering and stuttering. I think it would work, it is certainly worth a try.

If any of the "powers of be" are interested in the proposition please do not hesitate to contact me (info@stammering-stuttering.co.uk).
