The stuttering loner
During the eighteen years that I had a stutter there were a number of times that I seriously considered being a full time loner. So what do I mean by this?
Well to put it in simple terms I was a person who found it difficult to speak fluently to other people however never had a problem with my speech when talking to myself. Many people were a frustration to me, people at school would mock me, speech therapists were of little help and were basically rather negative in their approach towards stuttering therapy. I was sure that I would be far happier if I lived in a similar way to what a typical loner did.
Despite having these thoughts I decided that this would be taking the easy option and that it would be basically letting the stutter win. I am a people person, I enjoy socialising therefore why should I become a loner?
I eventually managed to overcome the stutter and won this big battle with my inner demons.
