Therapies for laryngitis

I have been struggling some what over the last few days with a rather nasty cough and cold. I eventually decided to visit my local doctor after I started to lose my voice. He stated that I had laryngitis and that something else (I am not sure what he called it) was also wrong with me.

Not being able to talk has been very frustrating for a person like me - I am a speech coach after all! I also have a large number of calls with regards to the web promotion service that I offer.

I am happy to report that I am now nearly back to full fitness and it certainly feels good to have my voice back again.

My tips for other people who have laryngitis would be:

Drink hot water and plenty of chilled water

Try and take complete rest, especially resting your voice

If you smoke - stop smoking! In fact stay away from anyone who smokes, where possible, as passive smoking can also irritate the problem and slow the recovery

Visit the doctor if you do not regain your voice within fourteen days
